Wet
2005
Acrylic on Arches Water Colour Paper |
There's something fantastic that happens every time liquid
paint hits wet paper, or when water is introduced to a canvas.
When I commence a piece, I dive right in with nothing on my
mind, save for some sensibility toward colour and space. The
rest is serendipitous and intuitive. The creative force within
takes over and allows for absolute freedom of expression.
We are not meant
to understand all things. It doesn't really matter if things
make sense. Paintings don't have to involve logic. There lies
the magic. Simply letting them become what they may, is one of
the greatest resources. There is no shortage of ideas when you
are open to possibility. It's as if I have been reduced to
essence. When I am at one with the medium, the most gratifying
happenstance is the end result. The painting tells me when it
is done. Not me.
My art is about
energy and emotion enmeshed with organic form. It is about
departure and rekindling of the Spirit, in both its mysteries
and familiarities.
